Google Announces Winner of Doodle 4 Google Competition

Today, Google announced the winner of its 7th annual Doodle 4 Google competition, which asks kids K-12 to draw a Google doodle of their own inventions to make the world a better place. This year’s national winner is 11-year-old Audrey Zhang of New York, who invented a “transformative water purifier.” “I came up with the design when I learned that not everyone has clean water,” said Zhang when she was announced as the winner. Zhang was awarded a $30,000 college scholarship and a $50,000 Google for Education grant for her school, the Island Trees Memorial Middle School in Levittown, N.Y. The company also donated $20,000 in her name to charity:water.
