The Webby Talks: How the Internet Fueled the Demand for Simple, Seamless Service

The Webby Awards, one of the great institutions recognizing excellence on the Internet, is currently calling for entries for their 19th annual awards show. In addition to the awards, they also announced the beginning of this year’s series of talks, with an “At Your Service” theme.

The Webby Talks are a series of presentations with the world’s leading technology and media companies. This year, hosts for the talks include Microsoft France, Apple, Tinder and Google.

The talks will focus on how the instant nature of Internet service has changed the way users view service in all sectors. One of the key focus points for the talks is “a future where brands use technology to provide near magical services for a consumer that expects everything to be available, on demand, all the time, from anywhere,” according to a press release.

“It might be hard to believe, but consumers have already normalized to the seamlessness and simplicity of services like Uber, Seamless, Pandora and Amazon Prime,” said David-Michel Davies, the Webbys’ executive director. “Our research reveals that today’s customers expect everything — online or off — to be like the Internet: available at a moment’s notice, wherever they are, and totally customized to their tastes.”

The research in question includes a national survey of consumer behavior, conducted by The Webby Awards. Automation, on-demand services and personally-tailored results are becoming increasingly important.
